💄Classic Makeup Items I STILL Use💄

Hi, and welcome back for your weekly dose of me rambling about items I like!

This time, I wanted to talk about throwbacks again, specifically some of the favorites from 2015-2018 that I still love and use! These items have withstood the test of time and are certified classics, in my opinion. Others have been discontinued for one reason or another- but these are still around!

I love shimmery, highly pigmented colours! If you are looking for all of this, I really recommend you check out the Lorac Unzipped palettes—all of them. I literally got every single one over the years because I love them so much, and I use the heck out of them.

First, these colours are so pigmented. You really can't go wrong. You will be able to see them clearly, even without the primer. The primer, however, is excellent and works entirely as it should—keeping the shadow on all day and maintaining its pigment.

I mostly use all of the lighter colors, but not necessarily the browns on the ends. They can be used to create a soft, smokey-eye look, which I really like a lot. If you have never bought from Lorac in the past, I would totally recommend checking these palettes out for a first impression.

First, this is an AMAZING palette for beginners. If you have never contoured before, I highly recommend starting with powder, and this is the perfect price for those who are unsure if they even like the look of contouring yet. If ya'll haven't noticed yet, I'm a big fan of e.l.f. 👀

These colours are the perfect pigment for blending to the degree of "how sharp" you want your contour to look. Every time I've used this palette, the contour look has stayed on all day.

I recommend using a base such as a primer, BB or CC cream, or foundation before applying this palette. This way, it really stays on all day, and the colours stay at their most pigmented.

Overall, I would say this is a product that you definitely need to try, especially if you want to contour and are unsure or new to contouring. I found this product blends the best with a kabuki brush, but I would love to hear what you use!

Love this e.l.f. contour palette? Hate it? Let me know below in the comments.

You already know I love e.l.f. products, and I am always ready and willing to try any of their products, old or new. Back in 2016, you can only imagine what baby me thought when she saw that they had an illuminator. I nearly lost it because I love highlighters!

So, first off, for pigmentation, I wouldn't say this is particularly highly pigmented. It shows up on your skin, but if you are looking to ✨GLOW✨, this is not your palette. I noticed that with setting spray, this stayed on all day with no re-applications needed. The colours are good for all skin tones as well, and they are quite shimmery.

Overall I would say this would work really well for a subtle natural glow and if you use some primer before hand on your cheeks you'll have even more luck than you would without it.

I would recommend this palette for people new to strobing and highlighting and for those looking for something to add to their more "natural" makeup looks. Definetly would be a hit with the "clean girly" makeup aesthetic happening right now in 2024!

In general, this is a good palette, and I would get it again if I ran out of it—just because of the 4 great choices and the fact that it is cruelty-free. You can't really go wrong in this case. It also lasts a long time. I've had mine since 2016, and it hasn't run out... 👀

Let me tell you what, this is one of my favorite highlighters of all time. I also just love Physicians Formula in the first place, from their cruelty-free policies to their adorable packaging and high-quality products. I am a ✨strobe✨ girly. I want to be seen from 🌌space🌌. Let me tell you why you want this highlighter, even if you aren't a strobe girly. It is buildable! I wear this with my most subtle natural "clean girly" looks and I can build it up to be absolutely blinding for raves. I can look like I have a soft glisten, or I can absolutely look like a Krispy Kreme donut if I desire.

This is best used over a primer, BB, CC, or foundation. I personally (nowadays) put on my sunscreen, wait 15 minutes, and then apply this over it. At night, I use my favorite moisturizer, and then once it's absorbed for a bit, I use this over it. Under these conditions, it is still as buildable as it is over the foundation or the like!

Have you tried this highlighter? Do you love it as much as I do? Leave a comment down below!

💦Setting Spray Time💦

Urban Decay's All-Nighter setting spray is up first because it is iconic. I've heard a ton of reviews about this product, both good and bad and naturally neutral, over the years. There is no way to describe the chokehold this product had on the beauty community collectively from 2015 to 2018. It still is a very popular and highly talked-about item on the market today!

I'm not surprised, as it comes from one of the longest-lasting and biggest names in the beauty industry: Urban Decay! I personally am neutral about the brand as a whole. I have enjoyed some products, disliked others, and felt just okay about some, but they get bonus points for being cruelty-free!

Overall, I would put this setting spray in the "neutral" category. It works just as well as the NYX or e.l.f. setting sprays, but it is a bit more expensive. So, let's jump into the pros and cons!

Pros:
-Works as described. My makeup lasted all night without any crazy smudging or anything
-Cute packaging as per usual with Urban Decay products
-Doesn't have any crazy scents or texture
-Sprays on evenly
-Cruelty-free

Cons:
-Is a bit pricey
-Runs out quickly

Overall, yes, the pros outweigh the cons; however, that is simply because the product works as described (yay!) and has gained brownie points for being cruelty-free (also yay!). I would suggest getting the e.l.f. or NYX setting sprays first if you've never used a setting spray before, as they work just as well for a fraction of the price—and in my experience, they tend to last longer anyway.

As I mentioned above, the NYX brand setting spray is a great comparable spray that doesn't break the bank and is also cruelty-free. I personally have only used the matte version, but others have said the plump finish, radiant finish, and Dewey finish all work as described and have held up to the test of time!

It's also silly to say, but I like the size, shape, and feel of the bottle if that is important to anyone else... 👀

I'd like to know your favorite setting spray in the comments. Do you have the NYX one? Do you like it or hate it? Let me know!

From one of my favorite brands, e.l.f. I present their mist & set setting spray—one of my most used of all time! Overall, if you are going to purchase a setting spray that is cheap and works, this is the one for you. I would almost always choose this setting spray over any other setting spray out there because it is so economical and works so well.

In the years I have had the same bottle of setting spray, these have been my pros and cons. However, they have probably improved on some of the cons over time, and I just haven't experienced it yet because a little goes such a long way with this setting spray that I haven't had to replace it yet!

Pros:
-The price is excellent
-It holds almost all day without having to reapply
-It doesn't irritate sensitive skin
-It's cruelty-free
-It doesn't have a strong scent

Cons:
-Might run out quickly if you use it often
-Spray nozzle sometimes clogs
-Can dry out your skin if you haven't used a primer before applying your makeup

What do you think of the e.l.f. setting spray? Would you recommend it to a friend? Let me know! I am desperate to know.

Well, these are my fun throwback choices that still hold up today. I was going to include the lipsticks I was obsessed with, too, but some have been discontinued, and I'll be honest, there were so many that I think it deserves its own post. For now, let me know in the comments which products had a chokehold on you between 2015 and 2018 and if any of them are included in this post! I want to hear from you!
Also, let me know if you are enjoying these throwback item posts. I think they are fun and remind me of a more youthful time... 👵
